INCT GNSS NavAer expands its GNSS receiver network

The National Institute of Science and Technology 'GNSS Technology in the Support to Air Navigation' - INCT GNSS-NavAer, based at Unesp in Presidente Prudente, through the TTIV Scholarship Holder Renan Pereira Biazini performed the installation of a new receiver at the Federal Institute of Tocantins (IFTO) in the Araguatins-TO campus, between September 26th, 2021 and October 01th, 2021, at the Space Physics Observatory.

The Observatory already possessed the Ionosounder, all-sky Imager, Fabry-Perot Interferometer and Magnetrometer equipment. The installation of a GNSS receiver will allow the crossing of captured data, increasing the number of possibilities for new research related to ionospheric scintillation, a phenomenon characterized by rapid variations in amplitude and phase of the carrier signal that crosses the ionosphere. Scintillation commonly occurs after sunset and in low latitude regions, which justifies the installation of the receiver at this location.

The installation had the support of professors Dr. Paulo Fagundes (University of Vale do Paraíba), Dr. Josafa Carvalho (Director - IFTO), Dr. Maukers Dias (IFTO) and Dr. Flavio Roony (IFTO, besides the IFTO's Maintenance and I.T. sectors.

The data from the installed receiver, whose station was named STAR, is already available in the ISMR Query Tool, a tool that analyzes ionosphere monitoring data by applying visualization and data mining techniques.

Below are some pictures taken during the installation showing some of the people involved.

In the following picture, besides the researchers already mentioned, we also have Dr. Paulo Fagundes from Univap (4th from left to right), with whom the Unesp researchers have been carrying out joint activities for a long time.
